Your daily must-read 15 June 2010

As this video shows, Supermodel Karen Mulder is bonkers - in a good way http://bit.ly/dBXnqP

Unlike Cathy Horyn, who clearly found it a bit dull, The Washington Post's Robin Givhan had positive things to say about the CFDA awards, saying the fashion industry has "come to terms, at least a little bit, with its cultural responsibilities." It's nice to see someone bigging up Michael Kors - he seems to elude praise a lot of the time on account of not being trendy. http://bit.ly/aLmhGB

And it's not all about Lara Stone's model wedding: here's a pic of Coco Rocha, looking delicious in her marital gown http://bit.ly/aG8tlR

Finally, a picture of Lindsey Wixson, who is currently the arresting face, body and soul of Miu Miu (care of Fashion Copious):

Your daily must-read 9 May 2010

Sally Singer is leaving American Vogue to become editor of T magazine (the style magazine of The New York Times): http://nyti.ms/aKYd0c. This is a mixed blessing: although I'll miss her in Vogue (not that Mark Holgate and Eve MacSweeney, her replacements, won't do a brilliant job),T is absolutely my favourite fashion magazine. If only it wasn't so bloody difficult to get hold of in London.

Here's a diverting mini documentary about scouting for models in South Brazil, where Gisele was discovered http://nyti.ms/bfYUio; they really do seem to be genetically superior down there.

Following her CFDA awards win, Tonne Goodman talks to Paul Cavaco http://www.vogue.com/voguediaries/2010_June_Tonne_Goodman/
(Check out my coverage of the CFDA red carpet trends here.)

Of course you've all seen it a hundred times by now, but here's Lady Gaga bringing Steven Klein to the masses, as the director of her new single. Personally I'm not a fan of that photographer's aesthetic - people are going Gaga for it though, if Twitter is to be believed. http://bit.ly/bk2rIF

Have you seen this shoot of Kate Moss by Sam Taylor Wood? http://huff.to/aSq8AM

Shiny, shiny

Sasha Pivovarova comes across as slightly bonkers. I like the way she doesn't dress like a model, more like a madcap wannabe artist bombing around downtown New York (albeit in slightly more expensive clobber).

Model style from Altamira

Because I love models' off duty looks even more than what they wear on the catwalk... Thank you, Altamira, for devoting an entire blog dedicated to the topic.

Lily Donaldson works army surplus with a fierce boot.

Abbey Lee Kershaw's good "bad" taste. See more stuff on Abbey Lee Kershaw.

Carre Otis forgotten star

We've had the Stephanie Seymour revival (thanks to Katie Grand's Pop) and even a Tatjana Patitz renaissance of sorts (on the Chanel catwalk).Surely next in line for this honour should be Carre Otis. While never reaching the supermodel status of her '90s peers (an abusive relationship with Mickey Rourke and a drug habit put paid to that), Otis nevertheless managed to make a real impression and is still one of my favourite models of all time.

The appeal of Abbey Lee Kershaw

Abbey Lee Kershaw, the Australian model, seems to be on fashion's mind right now. As well as featuring on the cover of the current issue of Pop (photographed by Richard Prince, and where she looks about 15 - her real age is 22), she's the face of Gucci Flora perfume and has done editorials for Russian and American Vogues, among others.

What's interesting is that it seems to be her own personal style - a mixture of Janis Jopling and Lenny Kravitz-era Vanessa Paradis - that is inspiring fashion, rather than just her looks (she's also the first successful model to sport a nose ring since Stella Tennant). In this way, she follows in the footsteps of the likes of Erin Wasson and Kate Moss. She's captured a moment.
