| Kate Moss online Check out these Genius website http://www.longform.org/ - for anyone who, like me, is a magazine article junkie. I like this Q&A with Katie Grand - it's nice to get an insight into how her brain works: http://models.com/mdx/?p=4119 This is cute: a gallery of pics of girls with gap teeth. Liberty of London Girl did a nice tribute on her blog: http://www.libertylondongirl.com/2010/08/28/rip-corinne-day/ What a good magazine cover looks like - not all of them involving Robert Pattinson: http://bit.ly/cbucWP |

Sofia Coppola Somewhere
She gave us Scarlett Johansson in sheer pink knickers, and Kirsten Dunst in Converse saying Let Them Eat Cake. Now, in her new film Somewhere, Sofia Coppola has got Stephen Dorff playing a washed-up actor in residence at The Chateau Marmont.
I die, I die, I die.
Finalement, if you want a bargain, head to the Red Cross charity shop off King's Road - it's the best of its kind in London, and currently has a 50% off sale. Myself, I found a Roland Mouret pencil skirt, navy satin fitted trousers, a Rena Lange cream silk blouse and a couple of other things, all of which rung in at under £60. And safe in the knowledge my cashola is going to help victims of the floods in Pakistan.

In other fash news, have you seen the Steven Meisel / Vogue Italia / Kristen McMenamy (who's totally having a major renaissance right now) oil slick shoot that's causing a bit of a fuss among the fashion Twitterati (what's the shortened version of those two words?)? If not, here it is on Fashion Gone Rogue:

As this video shows, Supermodel Karen Mulder is bonkers - in a good way http://bit.ly/dBXnqP
Unlike Cathy Horyn, who clearly found it a bit dull, The Washington Post's Robin Givhan had positive things to say about the CFDA awards, saying the fashion industry has "come to terms, at least a little bit, with its cultural responsibilities." It's nice to see someone bigging up Michael Kors - he seems to elude praise a lot of the time on account of not being trendy. http://bit.ly/aLmhGB
And it's not all about Lara Stone's model wedding: here's a pic of Coco Rocha, looking delicious in her marital gown http://bit.ly/aG8tlR
Finally, a picture of Lindsey Wixson, who is currently the arresting face, body and soul of Miu Miu (care of Fashion Copious):

Sally Singer is leaving American Vogue to become editor of T magazine (the style magazine of The New York Times): http://nyti.ms/aKYd0c. This is a mixed blessing: although I'll miss her in Vogue (not that Mark Holgate and Eve MacSweeney, her replacements, won't do a brilliant job),T is absolutely my favourite fashion magazine. If only it wasn't so bloody difficult to get hold of in London.
Here's a diverting mini documentary about scouting for models in South Brazil, where Gisele was discovered http://nyti.ms/bfYUio; they really do seem to be genetically superior down there.

Of course you've all seen it a hundred times by now, but here's Lady Gaga bringing Steven Klein to the masses, as the director of her new single. Personally I'm not a fan of that photographer's aesthetic - people are going Gaga for it though, if Twitter is to be believed. http://bit.ly/bk2rIF

He brought us two of the silver screen's most fashionable female characters - to wit, Faye Dunaway in Chinatown and Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby, and this week, the beleagured Roman Polanski finally spoke out in his defense (with no mention of those two, sadly, but wouldn't that have been amazing?):

Adriana Lima makes a comeback. I think she's so funny, this girl: http://pea.to/r6
Oh, and for anyone who hasn't yet seen it, check out the Irving Penn exhibition which I finally got around to seeing at The National Portrait Gallery. The stuff from the 40s, 50s and 60s rocks - he'd lost his sense of composition by the 80s, though, and, disappointingly there were no postcards in the gift shop (come on, like that isn't your favourite part of the museum visit). When I asked the shop assistant, she said they couldn't get copyright. Which is presumeably why the catalogue, which costs £25, was also missing all the best shots. Harumph.

Morning, all. Here are two interesting pieces I read online yesterday, about how fashion is changing in the face of the world wide web. The first is a Q&A with Cathy Horyn on Style.com. The second is called 5 Ways Social Media Changed Fashion in 2009 by Mascala Wright Lee.
The two come at the subject of fashion on the internet from different vantage points - Horyn as fashion critic of The New York Times, Wright Lee as CEO of FashionablyMarketing.Me, however both acknowledge certain things, such as the importance of FBs and how fashion is becoming much more of a two-way street.
